The calls we take as your local plumber in New Mills

Calls start with a boiler that has stopped, a leak through a ceiling, or a bill that has climbed since last winter.

Heat pump callers have usually read up for months. They want to know if it will keep a stone house warm, what it does to the electricity bill, and whether anyone quoting has measured anything.

Either way, we come out, measure the house and put the numbers on paper before you spend anything.

Sized right and backed for two years

We measure the house before we price the heating.

  • We size the whole system, the heating pipes and the hot and cold runs both, so the shower holds pressure while the kitchen tap is running.

  • You get the running costs in writing before you commit to the job.

  • Two years workmanship on every install, boilers included, alongside the manufacturer’s warranty, so a fault in our work is ours to put right.

  • No call-out fee on an emergency. You pay by the hour for the time we are on site, £96 including VAT locally (£80 plus VAT).

How the full system goes together

We design the heat pump, solar, battery and ventilation as one system, each part sized from your survey, so nothing gets bought twice. This is the order we would build it in.

  • Heating The heat pump and the underfloor heating that warm the rooms.
  • Hot water The cylinder that stores your hot water.
  • Solar and power Panels and a battery that cut what you buy.
  • Fresh air The unit that keeps a tight house ventilated.

  1. Heating Step 1 of 6

    Heat pump, outside

Sized from each room’s heat loss on the survey, so the far bedroom gets its share of heat too.

  2. Heating Step 2 of 6

    Underfloor heating

Underfloor loops set out room by room and balanced at the manifold, so every room holds an even temperature.

  3. Hot water Step 3 of 6

    Hot water cylinder

A Stiebel Eltron cylinder sized to the household, so a morning of showers comes off one heat-up and the pump only warms the water you use.

  4. Solar and power Step 4 of 6

    Solar panels

We look at the roof and last year’s bills, and solar goes on once it earns its keep.

  5. Solar and power Step 5 of 6

    Battery

We work out what your tariff and your usage would save before a battery goes in.

  6. Fresh air Step 6 of 6

    Fresh-air unit

The ventilation (MVHR) a tightly built house needs once the other three are in.

One fixed price, worked out for your house

The number in your written quote is the number on your invoice, whether it is a whole system or a boiler priced from photos.

  • A system quote starts with our own visit: room by room heat loss and hot water demand, taken on site. The estimate is free, and once you accept it we do the full design and the detailed quote.
  • Boiler installation quotes run faster. Send photos and we price it fixed.
  • System quotes come with the heat loss workings, so you can hold our numbers against any other quote you have.

Check us the way you would check any plumber or gas engineer quoting: Gas Safe 930763 on the register, our Which? Trusted Trader listing, F-Gas registration FGAS3028681 for the air conditioning work, and the dates on our Google reviews.

“It’s just warm all the time”

Hear Fraser compare his heat pump with the boiler it replaced, from the house it now keeps warm.

We turned his cold 18th-century end terrace into a warm, comfortable home, and the mornings spent waiting for the boiler to heat the house are behind him.

Fraser’s property now sits at a consistent 19°C all year round.

How a job runs here

The same four steps run on every job.

  1. Four First Point engineers in black branded polos standing in a row in front of a dark grey crew van in a container yard, a stone mill building behind them
    Step 1 of 4

Send the form on the page for your job and our office confirms the slot within one working day. The line is open 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

  2. First Point engineer in a black branded hoodie standing in the open garden gate of a customer's property, grey larch fence panels and a conifer behind him
    Step 2 of 4

The person who will design the job measures it or finds the fault, and you get a fixed quote in writing.

  3. First Point engineer kneeling in a stripped shower enclosure lined with tile backer board, a cordless drill and a spirit level on the floor beside him
    Step 3 of 4

We turn up on the day we agreed, do the work and hand you the paperwork for it.

  4. Finished loft shower room with a chrome ladder radiator, a marble-effect walk-in shower and a white vanity unit under a sloping ceiling
    Step 4 of 4

A reminder when the next service is due. If something is not right afterwards we come back the same week, and the same day where we can.

Three guarantees, in writing

  • Two years workmanship on every install, boilers included. It runs alongside the manufacturer’s warranty rather than on top of it, and our lead heat pumps carry five years from the manufacturer.
  • No call-out fee. You pay by the hour for the time we are on site and you hear the rate when you book: £96 including VAT locally (£80 plus VAT).
  • The turn-down promise: if the job is wrong for your house, you hear that first, before you spend a penny.

The questions we get asked most weeks

£2,640 to £3,960 including VAT fitted (£2,200 to £3,300 plus VAT), depending on the boiler, and the boiler page carries the figure for each brand. Send photos and the price comes back fixed, with no sales visit.

Yes, in a stone house too, as long as the design starts with a room by room heat loss calculation. Nesta asked more than 2,500 owners and 83% of the ones in Victorian or older houses were satisfied, level with new builds. Fraser’s 18th-century end terrace runs on one and sits at 19°C all year round. An install runs from one week to one month, depending on the house size and the system.

Yes. We service and repair all makes, whoever installed them. If you have the installer’s design documents, the engineer sets the weather-compensation curve to the temperature in them.

On the right roof with the right sizing, yes. We size and quote for your house rather than pointing at a national average.

It depends on your usage pattern and tariff. Your quote shows the numbers, and for some houses the straight answer is to wait.

The system pulls damp air out on a constant loop instead of only when a window opens, which is why it suits a home fighting condensation.

Air-to-air systems do both. The same unit that cools a room in summer runs the heating in winter.

No. You pay by the hour for the time we are on site, £96 including VAT locally, and you hear the rate when you book. Care plan members ring a priority line open 6am to midnight, seven days a week, and we book them ahead of non-members, aiming to get an engineer out within 24 working hours.

Plumbing and heating: New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton, Glossop, Hayfield, Marple, Disley and around. Heat pump and solar surveys go out to Manchester and Sheffield, and to Leeds for a heat pump, or a heat pump and solar together.

Number 930763. Check it on the register before we come out; we would rather you did.
