Air Conditioning Repairs Cost More Off A Plan

An AC repair has its own hourly rate, and it sits above a plumbing call.

Off a plan, air conditioning repairs cost £144 an hour including VAT (£120 plus VAT). Plan members pay £96.

And the company that fitted your system might not be the one you can reach when it needs attention two summers later.

The questions behind a plan:

  • “Is air conditioning really expensive?”
  • “If I use an internet company, who fixes it if it breaks next week?”

Air Conditioning Care Plans book your air conditioning servicing from a reminder and price the plan to the units you have, with the repair contribution stated first.

What Makes Air Conditioning Care Plans Different?

The price and the contribution both match your actual system.

  • An annual service in every tier, plus priority booking where availability allows

  • Priced to your system: one indoor and one outdoor unit as standard

  • Care covers repairs up to £500 a year, Protect up to £1,000, VAT included

  • A 12-month minimum, printed with the prices

Air Conditioning Care Plans are a service and maintenance agreement, and this page plus the terms tell you where its edges are.

The Questions That Decide It

Here are the terms that decide what the plan does and does not do.

  • Is this insurance?

No. Air Conditioning Care Plans are a service and maintenance agreement: First Point supplies the services listed in your tier, including a stated repair contribution on Care and Protect. Read the terms before buying; they’re written to be readable.

  • What happens once my repair contribution is used?

Further repair work stays available at the members’ rate, £96 including VAT an hour (£80 plus VAT) in our local area, and the cost gets explained before chargeable work goes ahead.

  • Can any air conditioning system join the plan?

We cover all the main makes: Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba Carrier, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Midea, Gree and Worcester Bosch. The system has to be accepted onto the plan, which can involve an initial inspection or service, and only equipment declared and registered at sign-up is included. It needs to be in satisfactory working order, and known or pre-existing faults aren’t included. A heat pump that runs radiators and hot water joins our Heat Pump Care Plans instead.

  • Does the plan replace my manufacturer’s warranty?

No. Where a fault is covered by an existing manufacturer’s warranty, that warranty is used first. The plan sits alongside it, not instead of it.

Common Questions About AC Care Plans

The 12-month minimum agreement is set out before you sign, and distance sign-ups carry the statutory 14-day cooling-off period. Full cancellation terms sit in the plan’s terms and conditions.

Members call a priority line that’s open 6am to midnight, seven days a week, and get booked ahead of non-members. The aim is an engineer with you within 24 working hours, and an emergency reported out of hours gets priority booking for the next working day where possible. We don’t promise fixed response times or 24-hour attendance.

Yes, subject to the system being accepted onto the plan. An initial inspection or service may be asked for first, and every unit you want included still needs to be declared and registered. Units fitted by our own air conditioning installation team join the same way.

Tell us before it’s fitted or as soon as it is, so it gets registered and the price stays right. An undeclared unit found later isn’t included until it’s added to the plan.

Air conditioning repairs off a plan run at £144 an hour including VAT (£120 plus VAT). Plan members pay £96 an hour including VAT in our local area.

No. The £500 on AC Care and the £1,000 on AC Protect cover your whole registered system for each plan year.

No. It has no cash value, can’t be refunded and doesn’t carry into the next plan period.

Installation or design defects, misuse, weather damage, faults in the external electrical supply, cosmetic damage, upgrades and obsolete parts, among others. The full list sits in the terms.
