A Skipped Boiler Service Is Winter Roulette

The boiler that fails in a cold snap was already asking for a service.

A skipped service can void the warranty you’re relying on, because the manufacturer wants annual proof.

The worries behind a service call:

  • “Am I being overcharged, or sold a boiler I don’t need?”
  • “I can’t afford a £3,000 unexpected bill right now.”

So we publish the checklist, state the price before the engineer arrives and email the certificate after the visit.

What Makes Our Boiler Servicing Different?

The same team on each visit: our office books it, the engineer does it.

  • A published checklist, from gas tightness to flue gas analysis

  • Certificate emailed after the visit, with the record kept on file

  • Next year’s reminder set for you

  • Gas Safe registered 930763

The Checklist, Published Before We Arrive

The engineer works through the published checklist on the boiler itself, from the case to the certificate.

    • Wall
    • Back Case And Tails
    • Control Fascia
    • Front Case And Seals

A gas tightness test comes first, then the flue gas is analysed at the analyser port.

    • Gas Inlet
    • Isolation Valve
    • Gas Valve
    • Flue
    • Analyser Port
  3. Burner And Heat Exchanger

  2. The Engineer Works The Published Checklist

He works through every item on the checklist above and sends you the full report once it’s done.

  3. Certificate Emailed

Your certificate lands in your inbox after the visit, ready for a warranty claim handler to see.

  4. Reminder Set For Next Year

We set next year’s reminder for you. Next year’s booking stops being something you have to remember.

We recommend the full in-depth service at £300, or the standard at £96, both including VAT and fixed before the engineer arrives.

If It Needs More Than a Service

If the boiler repair needs a part, the engineer comes back once it arrives, at a fixed time inside a two-hour window. Every Boiler Care tier includes the annual service: Essential £12.99, Care £24.99, Complete £44.99 a month including VAT.

“My house is warmer with a heat pump than it was with a boiler”

Hear firsthand from our customer Fraser about how installing a heat pump has transformed his day to day living.

We’ve turned his cold 18th-century end terrace house into a comfortable, efficient home. No more waiting for the boiler to heat up the house in the morning.

Fraser’s property now sits at a consistent 19°C all year round.

The Questions We Get Before Anyone Books

Illustration of a gas engineer carrying a tool bag and a dust sheet up the flagged path of a gritstone house on a sunny morning
  • If I use an internet company, who fixes it if it breaks next week?

The same boiler engineer does the visit and is who our office books for the follow-up. No call centre sits between you and the person who was in your house the first time.

  • Will a small company an hour away actually turn up and stand behind it?

First Point works from New Mills and services boilers across the High Peak doorstep day to day, from Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith to Glossop and Buxton. The same team comes back if something needs a second look.

  • Water is destroying my ceiling.

If water’s coming through right now, or you have a boiler breakdown and no hot water, our emergency page has what to do next. Otherwise, our office line is open 9am to 3pm and books the next available appointment. Care plan members ring the priority line, open 6am to midnight seven days, and get booked ahead of non-members.

  • What boilers are the most reliable?

On a servicing call, that question turns into boiler repair or boiler replacement. A £300 fix can beat a £3,000 boiler, and we tell you which one applies before pushing a sale.

Boiler Servicing And Repair Questions

The full checklist published above, from the gas tightness test and flue gas analysis through to the report sent once it’s done, plus the certificate emailed after the visit and next year’s reminder, set on its own.

Allow 1 to 3 hours. You get a fixed arrival time inside a two-hour window, so there’s no half-day wait.

Cold spots and slow radiators often trace back to the water in the system rather than the boiler. We check the system first, and if a power flush is the fix, the engineer can arrange one on the visit.

An annual service keeps most manufacturer warranties valid wherever the boiler was fitted, and you keep the certificate either way.

£96 including VAT (£80 plus VAT) for the standard service, or £300 including VAT (£250 plus VAT) for the full in-depth service we recommend. The price is fixed before the engineer arrives. Our boiler service cost guide sets it beside the 2026 national figures.

Once a year. Manufacturers want that yearly record before they honour a warranty claim, and we set next year’s reminder for you.

You get the finding and the price before any repair starts. Boiler and central heating repairs are charged by the hour on site, £96 including VAT in our local area, plus parts, and a part on order can mean a second visit.

No. You pay for the engineer’s time on site and nothing for turning up.
