How First Point Plumbing Started, From The Founder

One van, working day and night, then a lesson learned the expensive way.

“I’ve been in the trade ten years now. I started on my own, fitting boilers and bathrooms, working day and night and over-delivering for customers. The repeat work let me grow the team to seven, including me.

Then came the lesson: I hired ahead of the pipeline without the business knowledge to match. The team shrank, and I rebuilt it on repeat work, training and the maths.

I’ve spent the last 12 months on heat pump and system design. The company you’re looking at is that rebuild, at the right pace and the right prices.”

The Only Job I Turn Down

Saying no to split jobs is how I hold everything my team fits to one standard.

I try never to say no to a job. The one exception is a customer who wants to do part of the work themselves, or bring in trades from outside my own team: my quality standard can’t be met that way, and it’s taken years on the tools to build and refine it. If it’s the wrong job for your house for any other reason, you hear that first, before you spend a penny.

The Paperwork, And What Each Piece Buys You

Registrations and training you can check before anyone sets foot in your house.

Each one below says what it changes once the work starts, from who can work on your gas to how your heating is designed.

  • Licensed for gas work, checkable on the register.
  • Manufacturer-backed systems, 5-year warranty.
  • Systems designed to a target SCOP, then commissioned to prove it.
  • Vaillant heat pump training, completed.
  • Qualified to handle refrigerant on air conditioning work, from leak checking and recovery to installation and servicing.
  • In progress. When it lands, grant applications run under our own name. Until then, we say so wherever grants come up.

What You Can Hold Us To

Three rules behind your price, what you hear first and who turns up.

  1. Numbers Before The Quote

We measure the house and work out the running costs before anyone writes a price, and that price holds through to the invoice.

  2. The Wrong Job, Said First

If a job is wrong for your house, you hear it from us before you spend a penny. We give the quote, and the decision stays yours.

  3. One Standard, The Whole Job

Our team plans and runs your job from first visit to handover, so a single office answers for all of it, and we’re back the same week if anything needs a look.

The Team In The Vans

Small enough that you’ll recognise faces from one job to the next.

  • Lewis

Founder and gas engineer, who designs your heat pump or heating system.

  • Rachel

Answers the phone, books your visit and keeps you updated.

  • Oliver

Gas engineer and maintenance plumber, who handles boiler services, leaks and repairs.

  • Jacob

Fits our bathrooms and takes on the builders work.

  • AJ

Apprentice, ready for small jobs like tap repairs.

  • Joe

    Renewables engineer.

Two Guarantees, In Writing

What every job carries, whichever way you get in touch.

  • Two years workmanship on every install, boilers included. It runs alongside the manufacturer’s warranty rather than on top of it, and our lead heat pumps carry five years from the manufacturer.
  • No call-out fee. You pay by the hour for the time we are on site and you hear the rate when you book: £96 including VAT locally (£80 plus VAT).

Common Questions About Getting In Touch

Within one working day. A form sent on a Friday evening is answered on the Monday.

Whichever suits the job. A problem that is easier to explain out loud suits a call, and the form lets you describe the house in your own time.

Either a survey visit or, where your description already covers the job, a fixed quote. If the job is wrong for your house, we say so before you spend anything.

Yes. Members ring a priority line open 6am to midnight, seven days a week. We book them ahead of non-members and aim for an engineer within 24 working hours. Non-members get the next available appointment.

Every job in New Mills and the doorstep towns around it, Buxton included. Emergency call-outs reach Stockport, South Manchester, Bamford and the Hope Valley, and heat pump and solar surveys go as far as Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
